Cockburn Parenting Service

Cockburn Parenting Service is a free service supporting parents, grandparents and carers with children aged 0-18 years. The service is a partner of South-West Metropolitan Parenting Partnership which includes Meerilinga Cockburn.

The service provides information on

  • Child and adolescent development and behaviour
  • The importance of play and connection
  • How emotions affect behaviour
  • Strategies to encourage positive behaviour
  • How to effectively communicate with your child/teen.

The service aims to engage with families from different backgrounds including First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) families.

Cockburn Parenting Services offers

  • Individual consultations
  • Parent and child groups including Sing and Play (language delay, ESL)
  • My Time - Aboriginal Parent support group
  • Group-based parenting programs and workshops
  • Short-term parenting support
  • Referral and links to relevant community support.

  • Tuning in to Kids
  • Tuning in to Teens
  • Parenting by Connection
  • Engaging Adolescents
  • Understanding Tears and Tantrums
  • Understanding Children's Feelings/Behaviours
  • Building Resilience
  • Setting Limits
  • Building Children's Self-Esteem.
