Closure of Facility Hire
Due to the recent legislation laid down by the WA Chief Health Officer the City of Cockburn is closing all Community and Sporting Facilities available for hire – effective from 12.01am Wednesday 25 March 2020
Why are they closing?
The City’s Community and Sporting facilities are closing following advice from the state and federal government departments. This is part of a nation wide response to limit the effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) virus.
When will they re-open?
The City will await notification from the Department of Health. Community and sporting facilities will be re-opened when we are comfortable that our facilities are safe for users.

Does this include all activities within the facilities?
Yes. The only activities that will continue will include Child Health Nurse operations and education providers. These are considered essential services under the current legislation. The City has made contact with these users.
Do I need to cancel or re-arrange my existing booking/s?
No. For regular hirers, the City will automatically suspend your existing booking. For casual hirers, the City will contact you to cancel or re-arrange your booking. For sporting hirers, the City will automatically suspend your existing booking.
Will I continue to be charged for my existing booking/s?
No. For regular hirers, the City will automatically suspend charges immediately (including those who have made recent re-arrangements through the City’s Bookings Office). This also includes storage fees. For casual hirers, the City will contact you directly to arrange a refund for your booking. Should payment not have been made, the City will cancel your booking after they have contacted you. For sporting hirers, the City will pro-rata charges until such time it is safe to resume normal activities.
Can I still access the facility during closure?
No. The City will deactivate access cards immediately.
Will my group’s belongings be safe?
The City’s alarm and CCTV systems (where applicable) will still be operational. The City’s CoSafe is still operating undertaking periodic inspections. City staff will also undertake periodic inspections.
Will the City be taking new bookings?

Notice of New Payment Arrangements for Casual Venue and Reserve Hire
From the 1st of August, all casual hirers will need to pay a bond via a pre-authorised credit card transaction, prior to the booking. Casual hirers will have the option to pay their hire fees online via credit card or B-Pay.
