Road Closures – Short and Long Term

Long term road closures

In accordance with public notice requirements under the Local Government Act 1995 for road closures exceeding 4 weeks, please see the following:

Bennett Avenue, North Coogee – from Rollinson Road to Surada Street

Due to the undergrounding of high-voltage power lines, the existing northbound partial closure of Bennett Avenue from Rollinson Road to Surada Street in North Coogee is proposed to be extended until 5pm on 31 May 2024. Detours via Garston Way and Anchorage Drive will be implemented, with minimal delays expected. For further information, please contact Cable Layers Australia (CLA) at [email protected], or 08 9414 8113 (between 7.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday).

Partial northbound closure of Points Way, Cockburn Central

The City received a request for a temporary partial northbound closure of Points Way in Cockburn Central, from Signal Terrace to the Cockburn Central Station Car Park West 2. This closure is proposed to be in effect 24/7, starting from 7am on Monday 29 April 2024, until 7pm on Monday 10 November 2025. The purpose of this closure is to facilitate the construction of a new development at 28 Signal Terrace.

The new development at 28 Signal Terrace will include 109 residential dwellings, a 170 room hotel, and three ground floor retail units. To ensure safe manoeuvring space for trucks and mitigate risks to construction workers and the public, a partial closure will be implemented during construction.

You can provide your feedback on the proposed traffic management plan by 5pm, Tuesday 16 April 2024 by completing the Points Way Closure Survey, emailing: [email protected], writing to: PO Box 1456 Scarborough WA 6922 or calling 08 9467 7800.

Stratton Street and Hurford Street, Hamilton Hill

Due to previous flooding in the area, the City investigated the drainage and found that the current pipes do not have the capacity to convey heavy stormwater to the sump on Hurford Street. To fix this, a new drainage system has been designed for Stratton Street, Hurford Street, and Starling Street in Hamilton Hill. Construction is scheduled to start in April, and should be completed towards the end of 2024. During this time, there might be some temporary disruptions to surroundings verges, footpaths, and crossovers. All property owners will be contacted in advance if access to their property will be affected.
