Guidelines for placing waste on verge

  • Place your bulk waste and bulk garden organics on the verge by 6am, three days prior to the scheduled start date for your area as the contractor will only check the verge once.
  • If you are combining your verge pick-ups with a neighbour, please notify the City prior to the pick-up date.
  • Allow 5-7 working days from the area collection date for your waste to be picked up.  If your waste has not been collected within this time, please contact the City.
  • Place waste on the verge, approximately one metre (1m) back from the kerb, taking care not to obstruct footpaths or create a safety hazard.
  • Waste will not be collected from synthetic turf areas. Contact the City to arrange an alternative collection point.
  • Items should be placed clear of vehicles, trees and sprinklers to allow pick-up by the City’s vehicle.
  • Collection is limited to approximately two trailer loads (6ft x 4ft trailer size) or two cubic metres.
  • Excess waste will not be collected.
  • Verge collections are for residential properties only and do not include commercial properties or schools.
Important note: You may be liable for a $200 litter infringement notice for waste placed on the verge more than three days prior to your area collection commencing, or after the truck has passed.
