Australia Day Coogee Beach Festival to inspire spirit of togetherness

Event date:26JANUARY2021
Cockburn’s ever popular Australia Day Coogee Beach Festival is set to inspire a spirit of togetherness for locals and visitors alike, on 26 January, 2021.

Perth media personality Christina Morrissey will be this year’s MC and our Auspire (Australia Day Council WA)-appointed Australia Day ambassador for 2021 will be Happiness Co-founder Julian Pace.

Pace was a 2020 WA Australian of the Year Local Hero Award finalist and is now a world renowned public speaker who has addressed more than 63,000 people since 2017 when he helped establish Happiness Co - a platform for the promotion of happiness, kindness, community and contribution.

The family-friendly day will offer a host of varied entertainment and activities between 8am and 1pm including the brilliant Bindjareb Middars Aboriginal dance group which has been showcasing Bibbulmun culture from the South West for many years in WA and across the world.

Other exciting acts include legendary Perth bands Murphy’s Lore and Dilip ‘n The Davs, and string quartet Flamingo Strings.

Activities and attractions will include a sandcastle design competition, with a trip to Rotto up for grabs, friendly mermaids, a free sausage sizzle (while stocks last), free water amusement rides and slides, weaving workshops, and demos by the South Coogee Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade.

A range of multicultural foods will be available to purchase on site.

Valet bike parking will be available and BikeWise will hold a Balance Bike Clinic and free bike check and tunes.
This is an accessible event, and accessible parking and toilets will be available.

Parking for this event is opposite the beach off Cockburn Road and at Coogee Hall off Howick Court. Access to Coogee Beach Cafe and regular beach parking is via Orsino Boulevard and Perlinte View.

Access to Powell Road will be closed from 6am to 1pm on the day.
