In 2012 as part of the overall Banjup Quarry Structure Plan (Calleya Estate), the need for a multi-purpose community and sporting facility was identified. This need has been re-affirmed through more recent consultation and is identified in the City’s 15 year Community, Sport, and Recreation Facilities Plan. There is $4.55M allocated for the design and construction of the new facility.

The facility will be based in the main town centre, on the corner of Torwood Avenue and Clementine Boulevard, Treeby. The new facility will be a flexible community space that will serve a variety of different purposes for the community. It is expected that the new facility will include:
  •          Multi-functional community activity spaces
  •          Multi-purpose sporting clubrooms (overlooking the adjacent park)
  •          Food and beverage preparation and service areas
  •          Playground area suitable for young children
  •          Toilets
  •          Change rooms
  •          Car parking.
The City has undertaken initial consultation and has reached out to all residents in Treeby and Jandakot via letters, hard copy and online surveys and drop-in sessions. The key points raised by members of the community throughout the consultation included:
  • A place/hub for people of all ages and cultures
  • Accommodate indoor and outdoor activities
  • Interest in fitness classes and sessions
  • Interest in a wide variety of sports
  • Spaces for music practice and performances
  • Interest in community and family events
  • The facility will bring together the local community
  • A playground or play spaces/ areas for children
The City will undertake a number of activities including the development of a Concept Plan in 2019/20, with construction expected to commence in 2020/21.
