Bibra Lake Fun Run Participant Information

The Bibra Lake Fun Run is free and welcomes people of all ages and fitness levels. It includes both a 6 km and 12 km course around the lake suitable for competitive runners and family groups alike, with prizes for overall and age group placegetters.

This page is to provide runners/walkers with all details about the event, in the lead-up to and on the day.

Registrations close 5pm Friday 8 September 2023. No new registrations will be accepted on the day. Participants are still welcome to take part, they just won’t receive an official time.

This page will be updated if event information changes. Participants are encouraged to refer back to this page closer to the event date.

8.30am 12km runners start

Course Information

The event area (including start and finish line) is on Progress Drive to the north of the Progress Drive and Gwilliam Drive intersection. Runners start on the road, turning right at Hope Road before merging onto the sealed pedestrian path approximately 600m down Hope Road.

Runners participating in the 6km event complete one lap of the lake in a clockwise direction. Runners participating in the 12km complete two laps, remaining on the pedestrian path to commence the second lap.

Bib Collection

Registrations before midday on Wednesday 6 September, bibs can be collected from the Cockburn ARC at the following times:

Saturday 9 September 11am to 3pm

Registrations after midday on Wednesday 6 September and other uncollected bibs can be collected at the event from 6.45am.

Note: no new registrations will be accepted on the day. Participants are still welcome to take part and may receive an unregistered timing bib.

Parking and Road Closures

Event Parking

No roadside parking is allowed on Progress Drive between Gwilliam Drive and Hope Road.

Participants can park at the Adventure World carpark on the corner of Progress Drive and Gwilliam Drive.

Road Closures

Road closures will be in place from 8am, and will reopen at approximately 9am.

Roads closed: Progress Drive (between Gwilliam Drive and Hope Road) and Hope Road (between Progress Drive and Bibra Drive).

Other information

Bag Drop

Neighbourhood Watch will provide a bag drop area. All care will be taken however no liability accepted for missing valuables. Please only bring essentials and leave valuables at home or in your car.

Water provision

Participants are encouraged to bring their own drink bottle on the day and refill as needed from the water tank located at the start/finish area. The water tank is filled with filtered drinking water and is equipped with refill taps and bubblers. A water station will also be located at the approximate halfway mark.

Food

Friends of the Community will be providing a free sausage sizzle and fruit after the event.

Coffee vans will be in attendance.

Accessibility

The course is accessible for parents with prams and participants in wheelchairs.

Dogs

Participants with dogs are welcome to attend, however for the safety of all participants, the following conditions must be adhered to:

  • Dogs must be leashed at all times on a short lead. Retractable leads are not permitted.
  • Strictly one dog per person.
  • All participants with dogs must start at the back of start line marshalling area.

Volunteers

Volunteering opportunities will be advertised by the Cockburn Volunteer Resource Centre on their Volunteer Job Board.  

Cancellations

As much as is possible depending on circumstances, all registered participants will be notified by email if the event is being cancelled. This page will be updated and there may also be notice on the City's social media pages. The City will consider all factors to determine if it is possible to reschedule the event, however is under no obligation to do so.

Exclusive use

Event participants DO NOT have exclusive use of the area or course. The course location will be accessed by other members of the public that are not part of the event. Please show courtesy to other users at all times and refrain from abusive or offensive comments towards the public.

Results will be available on our timing provider's event webpage that participants registered through.
