Wahyu Wijayanto is the Director of Industry, Tourism and Creative Economy of the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) since September 2023 (previously in his capacity as acting Director since April 2023). He also serves as Chair of the Blue Economy Technical Team at BAPPENAS. Previously he served as Deputy Director (Coordinator) for Creative Economy in 2017-2023.
During his career at Bappenas, Wahyu was involved and led various technical teams in preparing national planning documents, including: Executive Team Member, the formulation of Indonesia Blue Economy Roadmap (2023); Technical Team Leader, Coordination Team for Integrated and Sustainable Tourism Development Program (2023); Technical Team Leader, the formulation of Digital Industry Development Master Plan 2023-2045 in 2022; Team Leader, Study for Indonesian Gastronomy Export Program 2022; and also one of the technical team coordinator in the formulation of National Medium Term Development Plan 2020-2024.
Wahyu holds a Bachelor degree in Political Science from University of Gadjah Mada, Jogjakarta, Indonesia (2005), and a Master’s degree (MA) in Development Studies, from The University of Auckland, New Zealand (2013).
An ardent learner, he had attended various short courses and trainings, among others: Risk Management for Major Projects, at IMA International, London (2023); Multicountry Observational Study Mission on Productivity and Innovation for the Digital Economy, at the Asian Productivity Office/Korea Productivity Center (2022); KOICA Fellowship Program: Institutional Capacity Building on Development Planning in Formulation of Quality Development Policies (2021); Digital Leadership Academy on Financial Technology Training Program, at Alibaba, Hangzhou, China (2019); and Effective Performance Management in a Learning Organisation, at the ATI-University of Middlesex, London (2015).
