West Australian-based shipbuilder Austal has signed $5 billion worth of contracts to produce Army vessels at the Henderson shipyard, in a deal the Albanese government claims will generate hundreds of local jobs.

There are likely to be huge delays on the Kwinana Freeway in South Lake with lane closures in place this weekend and over the coming long weekend.
Main Roads WA has warned of lane closures and possible detours on the freeway northbound from the Berrigan Drive off-ramp to the Roe Highway on-ramp while railway track maintenance is carried out.
