Beach erosion and sand drift at C.Y. O’Connor Beach

The City of Cockburn is aware of beach erosion and sand drift issues affecting the Rollinson Road park area and C.Y. O’Connor Beach (north), which have occurred over the recent holiday period.

Blown sand that had accumulated on the shared path has now been removed. The City is currently obtaining quotes to remove sand that has built up within the dune vegetation and is preparing plans for beach nourishment works to restore the affected section of beach.

These future works are expected to include reprofiling the beach and addressing sand drift impacts, similar to nourishment works undertaken in mid-2025.

The City will provide further updates once timeframes for the rectification works are confirmed. Thank you to the community for their patience.
