Friday 8 August:
Southern Lions RUFC will host the Western Force final Super Rugby Men’s U16s home game against the Queensland Reds.

The game will take place at Southern Lions HQ at Success Regional Sporting Facility in Hammond Park, Cockburn on Sunday 19 October from 1pm WST.

Cockburn residents fear someone will be killed by no-gooders throwing heavy slabs and rocks from the rail bridge over Beeliar Drive.
Local safety group Voice of Cockburn Association says children as young as seven and eight are clambering onto the rail bridge and dropping large debris onto passing cars. Adults are also taking part in the dangerous activity.

Waste giant Remondis says its aware of sensitive cockatoo habitat at its new Jandakot site, but its recycling plans will deliver “massive environmental benefits”.

Thursday 7 August:
An unusual sighting of a fish species normally found in deeper water has helped demonstrate the appeal of Port Coogee Marina as a safe harbour for a variety of sea life.

The future of Australia’s rapidly growing regions was front and centre at this year’s National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) National Congress, hosted by the Cities of Gosnells and Cockburn last week.


Tuesday 5 August:
The Albanese Government is accelerating the delivery of a larger and more lethal surface combatant fleet with the selection of the upgraded Japanese Mitsubishi Heavy Industries-built  Mogami-class frigate as the preferred platform for the Royal Australian Navy’s future fleet of general purpose frigates. 
The first three frigates will be built in Japan for delivery in 2029. Successful consolidation of the Henderson precinct will enable the remainder of the build to be constructed locally, in line with the Albanese Government’s commitment to continuous naval shipbuilding. 

The Albanese Government is securing a continuous pipeline of shipbuilding work in Western Australian and creating thousands of jobs through the execution of the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement with Australia’s newly established Strategic Shipbuilder, Austal Defence Shipbuilding Australia Pty Ltd.

Saturday 2 August:
The annual Earth and Ocean Schools Festival attracted more than 260 curious students from 10 Cockburn primary schools this June.

In its 14th year, the event was held at the Cockburn Wetlands Precinct in Bibra Lake and aims to connect youth with nature and the environment.
