Friday 15 August:
Three young people associated with the City of Cockburn are among 31 finalists in the 2025 WA Youth Awards. City of Cockburn Library Marketing Officer Nina Dakin, and City of Cockburn Youth Advisory Collective members Lilijana Nicholls and Jack Findlater are finalists across four categories.


Banjup residents have sought support from the City of Cockburn to stop a proposal they say will bring about 700 homes into their suburb.

Thursday 14 August:
Cockburn Council in Western Australia has endorsed a public consultation process for the proposed stage four expansion of Port Coogee Marina, aiming to address high demand for boat berths in the region.

The $4.1m (ex GST) proposal would create 32 private pens and four public berths on a public jetty, taking the total number of pens to more than 260.

Trampolines have gone flying and trees have been uprooted as record-breaking wind gusts hammered Perth and much of WA overnight. At about 7pm on Wednesday, a gust measuring 117km/h ripped through the Jandakot area. This gust is the strongest wind recorded there since 1990, exceeding the previous record of 113km/h.

The Dockers have confirmed its extended squad of 24 to take on Port Adelaide in Round 1 of the NAB AFLW Season, this Sunday 17 August, headlined by star duo Captain Ange Stannett and Kiara Bowers returning to the side for the first time since 2023.

Success-based Southern Lions RUFC will also host the Western Force’s final Super Rugby Men’s U16s home game against the Queensland Reds as a stand-alone fixture on Sunday, October 19, from 1pm.
