Cockburn ARC – home to the Dockers Football Club – will host its first pre-season AFL match at 3.20pm on Friday 24 February.
Entry to the City of Cockburn facility oval will be free for up to 3,000 AFL-loving members of the public.
The match simulation against the Adelaide Crows will be televised on Fox Footy and available to stream on Kayo.
City of Cockburn Executive Corporate Affairs Victoria Green said the match simulation was another opportunity for people to choose their own adventure in the City of Cockburn, a place where you can have it all.
Attendees will have the chance to win a City of Cockburn Choose Your Own Adventure prize pack at the match just by telling us which adventure they would choose in Perth’s best playground.
“Look out for our staff members who will encourage entries to win a $226 adventure pack, just by volunteering to be in a selfie frame photo which we’ll share on our social media channels,” Ms Green said.
“It’s a bit of fun at what will be an exciting event for the City and the Dockers. We’re excited to have a pre-season AFL match right here in Cockburn.
“This opportunity is all part of our developing partnership with the Dockers. Their AFL and AFLW teams train at our award-winning Cockburn ARC facility, right here in the heart of Cockburn Central.
“Our City is just one of 18 local governments across Australia who are home to an AFL and AFLW team.”
The Adventure Pack consists of:
- Cockburn Ice Arena Skating Session Admission – family of 4 worth $92
- Cockburn ARC Aquatic Family Pass + Waterslides worth $52
- Yeti Yonder 1L bottle worth $42.95
- Sun Bum SPF50 Day Trip Pack Canvas worth $39.99
In September last year, the City, the Dockers, the State Government, the WA Football Commission and the AFL announced a major $12m expansion at Cockburn ARC.
The City will contribute $6m to the project which will include seating for up to 250 spectators at Victor George Kailis Oval, a community changeroom with female and gender-neutral facilities, new changerooms for the Dockers’ AFL Women’s team, plus a 550sqm increase to the ARC’s gym floorspace.
