Beeliar Sun Sets to shine with local talent this spring

15NOVEMBER2023
An all-star local lineup will take to the stage at the first of two Beeliar Sun Sets gigs, as a part of the Cockburn LIVE event series.

The FREE concerts hosted by the City of Cockburn will bring together friends and families for an unforgettable night of music.

On Saturday 25 November 2023, Nicholson Reserve in Yangebup will host Beeliar Sun Sets, a night under the stars headlined by ARIA award-winner Kav Temperley

Kicking off from 5pm, concertgoers can lay out a picnic rug and have a boogie to Love and All That Stuff singer-songwriter Riley Pearce, the inspiring Noah Dillon, fearless and prolific tunes by Siobhan Cotchin, and the emotional lyricism of Joan & The Giants

Eskimo Joe front man and Fremantle local, Kav Temperley, said community shows were great because it was a rare chance to play to a crowd made up of all walks of life.

“I couldn’t think of a better line up for this gig… when it comes to live music Perth punches well above its weight for such a small city,” Mr Temperley said.

“It's super important to get out there and celebrate original live music in WA. We’re home to some of Australia’s biggest artists, and they all started off playing to local crowds.”

City of Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett said Beeliar Sun Sets was a fresh new take on the community concerts the City previously held, adding the reinvigorated identity and format was an exciting addition to summer events in the City.

“The new event name acknowledges the traditional owners, the Beeliar Nyungar people. Beeliar is the Nyungar word for ‘river people’,” Mayor Howlett said.

“The line-up for the free concert is absolutely world class, and we’re looking forward to bringing some amazing West Australian talents to Yangebup’s backyard!”

Dinner at the Sun Sets is sorted with food trucks on site including Hoki Bao, Nui Cooking, Burg N Skew, Texas BBQ, Soul Van, Pizza Joe's Woodfire Pizza, Friends of Community, Happy Corn Dogs, Unicone, Coconutz Ice-cream, and more.

Beeliar Sun Sets is a carbon neutral event. This means carbon emissions released as a result of the event, from things like patron travel, food consumption and onsite generators, will be offset by the City investing in planting mixed native trees and shrubs throughout the state.
