The City’s three community libraries — at Coolbellup, Spearwood and Success — are places where young and old are invited to imagine, connect and grow.
Membership to our libraries is free and each site offers a range of activities and events to suit all ages and interests. Kids will be entertained and educated at Toddler Tales, Pram Jam, Multi-Sensory Storytime, STEAM Club, and LEGO Club, and seniors can connect with like-minded people at social Mahjong, the Knitting Circle, or Poetry Lovers Club. Events, workshops and competitions
Complementing our Libraries, the City supports many community events and opportunities for people to share and engage with arts and culture. There is an extensive annual calendar of events, festivals and competitions designed to showcase local talent and encourage local participation in arts and cultural events. History at Azelia Ley Homestead and Museum
If you're interested in history we have the heritage listed Azelia Ley Homestead and museum located in beautiful Manning Park, Hamilton Hill. Built between 19920 and 1923 for Azelia Ley (nee Manning), the homestead and museum offers a glimpse into the life of a prosperous settler family living in the Cockburn district. With a vast collection of items such as furniture, clothing, photographs, paintings, toys, memorabilia, historical artefacts, and farm machinery, visitors can get a sense of how people lived, worked, and played during this time period.
The museum is open on Sundays from 1.30-4.30pm, and on Wednesdays during school holidays from 10am-1pm. For more visit our history website.
Art and Cultural Groups
Cockburn is home to a number of local arts and cultural groups including the Historical Society of Cockburn, Artzplace and the Cockburn Community and Cultural Council. You can find details here as well as details of the cultural events we hold each year.
