Local Arts and Cultural Groups

Cockburn is home to a number of local arts and cultural groups. Please see the list below for information on the groups and the types of activities they are involved in.


Artzplace is a group of visual artists who provide a wide selection of activities for members such as  an annual members exhibition, workshops, retreats and other art related activities. The group meets Monday nights from 7pm.

Venue: Old Council Chambers Corner Rockingham & Forest Rds, Hamilton Hill.

Cockburn Community and Cultural Council 

The Cockburn Community and Cultural Council is an umbrella group for several art/cultural groups who operate from the Old Council Chambers in Hamilton Hill. The group meets on the fourth Thursday of the month from 7.30pm.

Venue: Old Council Chambers corner Rockingham and Forrest Roads, Hamilton Hill.

Historical Society of Cockburn 

The Historical Society of Cockburn oversees the operation of the Azelia Ley Homestead museum complex and related activities. The Society meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 4pm and new members are always welcome.
Venue: Azelia Ley Museum, Manning Park Hamilton Hill.

Phoenix Theatre

Phoenix Theatre is the City’s resident theatre group. With a full program of up to five productions per year this very active group is always looking for new members who might like to join them either as actors or one of the many behind the scenes support such as front of house, stage designers, prop building, musicians etc.
Venue: Memorial Hall corner Rockingham Road and Carrington Street, Hamilton Hill.
