Rates payment due dates and instalment option

Annual rate payments are due on 25 August 2017.

You can pay your rates in one single payment by the 25 August 2017, or alternatively, you can pay in four quarterly instalments on the following dates:

  • Instalment 1 - due 25 August 2017
  • Instalment 2 - due 27 October 2017
  • Instalment 3 - due 5 January 2018
  • Instalment 4 - due 9 March 2018

Important note: If you pay by instalments, a $5 administration fee per instalment applies (excludes pensioners/seniors).

How to pay your rates

There are various ways you can pay your rates. Please select from the following options:

Online

Pay rates online with a valid credit card (Visa or Mastercard) via our NAB hosted secure payment gateway.

Important note - please enter numbers only for your Reference Number - no letters, dashes or spaces.

BPay

You can pay your rates via BPay through your financial institution. Credit card payments are not accepted.

Please quote Biller ID: 16212 and your Bank Reference Number which you can find on your Rates Notice.

Phone

Call 1300 085 035 anytime to pay your rates with a Mastercard or Visa.

Pay rates in person

You can pay your rates in person at:

Spearwood (corner Rockingham Road)
8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday

Present your notice intact to the cashier at the Council Administration Office.  Payments by credit card or EFTPOS accepted.

Centrepay deductions

Centrepay is a free bill paying service for Centrelink customers.

Please contact Centrelink on 13 23 00 or visit their office and provide them with the City of Cockburn Service Provider's Centrepay Reference Number and your Account Number.

  • Your Account Number (Property Number) - you will find the Property Number on your Rates Notice.

Australia Post

Any Australia Post outlet will accept your payment. Please take your Rates Notice with you. Credit card payments are not accepted.

Direct debit

You can pay your rates automatically from a nominated bank account (savings and cheque accounts only). Credit card payments are not accepted.

SmartRates

The City has introduced SmartRates to make it easier for households to manage their rate payments throughout the year by allowing you to pay weekly or fortnightly, ensuring your rates are paid before the end of each financial year.

You have the option to spread your payment over 22 or 43 payments. SmartRates also means less administration fees, and the direct debit continues year after year, meaning you don't have to remember to pay by a certain time - its that easy!

To implement SmartRates, please complete the SmartRates Direct Debit Form included with your annual Rate Notice and email to rates@cockburn.wa.gov.au, or post to:

SmartRates forms must be returned by 12 August 2017 in time for payments to commence on 25 August 2017. Forms received after 12 August 2017 will not be accepted and you will need to contact Rates Services to discuss an alternative payment arrangement.

Difficulty paying rates?

If you are experiencing difficulty paying your rates, you can request to enter into an alternative payment arrangement. Late payment interest of 7% may apply (excluding eligible seniors and pensioners).

Rates rebate for pensioners and seniors

As a senior or pensioner, you may be eligible to receive rebates on your rates. You may also qualify for a deferment on paying your rates. For more information, including eligibility, refer to the Pensioner and Senior Concessions and Rebates page.
