Frequently asked questions

Do I need to apply again if I was on SmartRates last year?
No. Your Direct Debit will automatically continue from 29 August 2025. Only complete a new application if you need to change your bank account details.
What happens if a payment bounces?
Contact the City immediately. If payments are not kept up to date, your arrangement may be cancelled, and standard late payment fees could apply.
Can I change my payment frequency during the year?
No. You must continue with the option you chose at the start of the year. You can select a different frequency when you apply again for the next rates year.
What if I need to change my bank account details?
You will need to submit a new SmartRates application through the eProperty platform.
