Friday 16 January:
The “best kept secret” of a small coastal sailing club will burst into the international spotlight after Jervoise Bay Sailing Club won the right to host the Formula 18 World Championships.

The event will take place at the Woodman Point club in the City of Cockburn from 27 January to 3 February.

Alex Pearce will captain Fremantle in 2026, with the club announcing he will lead the side for a fourth consecutive season as part of an extended leadership group.

Thursday 15 January:
Henderson-based Babcock Australasia has delivered its first major maintenance package on the Royal Australian Navy’s new Supply Class auxiliary oiler replenishment fleet.


Wednesday 14 January:
Growing global tensions have helped send shares in naval shipbuilder Austal to a record high, doubling the value of South Korean suitor Hanwha’s holding in less than a year.


Monday 12 January:
WA’s outer metropolitan suburbs are leading the charge to install home batteries, with Cockburn among those topping the list since mid-2025.


Friday 9 January:
Community connection will be on display at the City of Cockburn’s eternally popular annual Australia Day Coogee Beach Festival 8am-midday on Monday 26 January.

Perth-based radio and TV presenter Alana McLean will emcee the annual event and Auspire (Australia Day Council WA) has appointed inspiring co-founder of the award-winning Town Team Movement, Jimmy Murphy as our Australia Day Ambassador for 2026.
