Coolbellup’s twin water towers may soon light up the night sky with dazzling artworks, thanks to a grassroots idea that’s gained political traction at the City of Cockburn.

Thursday 19 June:
The State Government is continuing its record investment in TAFE and training to provide students with the skills they need, with $331m allocated in the 2025-26 State Budget.

This includes $11.5m to train apprentices as part of the AUKUS Defence Industry Incentive Scheme and $429,000 to undertake planning for the $17.1m expansion of the Munster Campus of South Metropolitan TAFE.

When WA Opera tenor Paul O’Neill isn’t working on his scales, the classically trained singer is working with scales of a different kind. The WA Academy of Performing Arts graduate can often be found singing an aria at the deep fryer of High C’s Fish and Chips, the takeaway diner he opened in Coolbellup last year.

Families in Spearwood are fearing for the safety of their children with axes and knives being thrown at targets carved into trees, just metres from a playground where used syringes have also been found lying on the grass. People living opposite Dubove Park told PerthNow “there’s no visible end in sight” to the antisocial behaviour in their once safe and welcoming neighbourhood.
