13NOVEMBER2025
Wednesday 12 November:
A magical symphony under the stars will be coming to Atwell Reserve on Saturday 13 December for Christmas on the Green.

Held from 4-9pm, the event promises free festive entertainment for local families including live stage shows, roving Christmas characters, kids activities, inflatables, face painting, and Santa’s workshop.

At the City of Cockburn’s Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 11 November, Council debated the future level of Development Contribution Plans (DCPs), which fund vital community infrastructure needed for new developments.
DCPs help deliver local roads, drainage, recreation facilities and other amenities across Cockburn’s growing suburbs.
For more information, see the Agenda.
Please note that due to Council decisions, some items that appear in the Agenda may not have been carried as recommended. Updated decisions will be detailed in the Minutes on the City’s website once published in about 10 working days.

Saturday 8 November:
The City of Cockburn’s engineered fringing reef at C. Y. O’Connor Beach was recognised at the 2025 WA Coastal Awards for Excellence.
The innovative reef received the coastal management award for reducing the impact of wave erosion and significantly increasing biodiversity.

Friday 7 November:
The clearing of banksia woodland in Jandakot for a proposed surf park has drawn anger from local environmental groups, despite the developer gaining governmental approval.

Thursday 6 November:
The largest naval ship ever built in WA was launched in Henderson last month.

NUSHIP Pilbara, the first Arafura Class Offshore Patrol Vessel built in WA, was launched by Civmec Defence Industries.

Wednesday 5 November:
Henderson’s defence industry is thriving, with ASC reporting a low 5 per cent staff attrition rate as local workers choose rewarding, family-friendly defence jobs over fly-in, fly-out mining roles.

The suburb’s growing importance is set to continue under AUKUS, with future sustainment work supporting visiting US and UK submarines.
