Music and magic will collide at Christmas on the Green

12NOVEMBER2025
A magical symphony under the stars will be coming to Atwell Reserve on Saturday 13 December for Christmas on the Green.

Held from 4-9pm, the event promises free festive entertainment for local families including live stage shows, roving Christmas characters, kids activities, inflatables, face painting, and Santa’s workshop.

The evening’s show-stopping finale will be led by the Joondalup Symphony Orchestra with guest performances, including Australian Idol 2025 finalist and local talent Gisella Colletti.

Food lovers will enjoy a line-up of over 15 food trucks.

City of Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett said the event was a celebration for families all across the community.

“Christmas on the Green has always been about community, joy and coming together to celebrate the spirit of the season,” Mayor Howlett said.

“We are thrilled with this year’s program. I’d like to offer my thanks to the local Harvest Lakes and Atwell residents’ associations whose brilliant ideas have helped to shape the evening.”

The return to the event’s parkland roots this year, follows a successful seaside stint as Christmas on the Coast.

Christmas on the Green is carbon-neutral, with waste-wise initiatives including reusable cups, water refill stations and Containers for Change donations to support the community.

Parking will be limited and residents are encouraged to walk, ride, scoot or bus to join the fun.

Biography of Michaela Jones, Music Director, Joondalup Symphony Orchestra
An accomplished musician, violinist, and conductor, Michaela has been Concertmaster of several orchestras, a guest performer for many bands across Western Australia, and a string teacher at numerous prestigious schools throughout Perth.

Michaela first became interested in conducting in 2010 but truly embraced her passion in 2021 when she became co-founder and Music Director of the Joondalup Symphony Orchestra (JSO). Her dedication over the past four years has seen JSO deliver 17 sell-out performances, including ensemble appearances on the main stage at the Perth Royal Show in 2021, the City of Wanneroo’s Christmas Festival in 2022, and the Government House Christmas Weekend in 2024. A career highlight came in February 2025, when JSO performed at the City of Wanneroo’s Symphony Under the Stars in front of approximately 12,000 people.

Michaela was also selected for Perth Symphony Orchestra’s Women on the Podium program, where she had the opportunity to work with world-renowned conductors including Alice Farnham, Sarah-Grace Williams, Jessica Gethin, and Peter Moore.
