Wedding Information Guide

The City of Cockburn has over 300 passive parks and reserves to hold your wedding ceremony. Our locations are very popular so to make your booking easier we have included some frequently asked questions regarding parks, reserves, and halls.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to make a booking for a wedding?

Yes, you are required to make a booking, this is essential. The City’s reserves are very busy and used throughout the year for a number of events. A booking will help assist with scheduling your wedding and make sure it does not clash with other events. Whilst the Council cannot restrict the use of an area to any one group, all measures are taken to limit dual usage.

Is there a fee for booking a wedding on a reserve or park?

Yes, there is an administration fee of $55.00.

Can we provide alcohol to our guests in a Public Open Space?

Yes, however you must obtain written consent from the City, this application is included inside the booking application form. Please have a copy of your letter with consent on you during your allocated booking time. This may be in hard-copy or digital.

Can we have a coffee cart/van at our ceremony?

Yes, please include this in your application with the company’s public liability. Please ensure the cart/van has a sign saying “Private Function” to avoid the public wanting to access the cart over local businesses.

Would we have access to power on site?

No, The City does not provide power on reserves or parks. You will need to supply your own.

Would we have vehicle access to a reserve?

We will not provide keys to gates for vehicle access to our reserves or parks.

Passive Reserves and Parks

Azelia Ley Homestead Museum - Manning Park
  • Food and drinks are not to be consumed on the verandas or steps of the homestead, due to the historical value of the building. You may have your photographs taken in the garden next to the homestead, but authorisation cannot be approved for receptions on the grass area next to the homestead.

  • Please feel free to use flower petals on the reserve and gardens as they are biodegradable. You will need to sweep them off the pathways once the function is complete. Rose petals or confetti cannot be sprinkled over the veranda.

  • If you would like to hold a reception in the park, it can be held on the other side of carpark from the homestead. Please inform the booking officer of your intent so that the area can be booked. Please check gate opening hours when considering this option.

  • Drinks and coffee carts are permitted as long as approval has been sought from council. Please contact City of Cockburn Health Department to inform them of your intent. Parking – cars are not permitted to park on grass areas, due to damage to the ground.

  • Marquees or tents no larger than 1 - 3 x 3 can be erected without obtaining prior written consent from the City.

  • Vehicle access will not be provided to the side or rear of the homestead.

Smart Park
  • The waterfall runs every day between 10.00am – 3.00pm & 4.00pm - 9.00pm or on special request for wedding ceremonies and photographs.

  • The toilets allocated at Smart Park will be opened during your allocated booking time.

Coogee Beach

Cockburn has a beautiful coastline, please be mindful when booking the beachfront, it is public open space so we cannot reserve a specific section for any one group. Regretfully, dogs are not permitted to attend beach weddings outside of dog exercise areas. If you’re having the ceremony on a grassed area, your best friend may attend as long as the park is dog friendly and on a leash.

Hall hire

  • Function hall hire is between 2.00pm – 1.00am. We do understand setting up for a wedding is vital and access to the hall will be required earlier. If you would like to extend your booking, the hourly rate can be applied between 8am - 2pm if available. All deliveries and collections to the hall are to be included in the booking times.

  • Please note decorations such as balloons or streamers are permitted provided they are cleaned away at the end of the function.

  • Helium balloons are permitted provided they are anchored. Please ensure they are removed at the end of your hire, as to not activate the alarms. Confetti or any similar materials are not permitted either inside or outside the facility. Please do not tape decorations to any painted walls or ceilings, as they cause damage to the interior of the building. Please feel free to use any free standing decorations.

  • The hirer is responsible for ensuring that the electrical equipment, lap tops and microphones are safe, appropriately tagged and in compliance with all legislation requirements.

  • Please remove all items from fridge and freezer at the end of your hire and disposed of in bins provided. All floors to be swept cleaned, and mopped with all tables to be wiped down and packed away with the chairs.
