Partnerships + Technology = Safety in Numbers

At the City of Cockburn, we’re focused on your safety and well-being. With strong community partnerships, a growing network of CCTV cameras and use of technology, as well as community safety forums to educate and address concerns, we’re working together to make Cockburn the safest place to be. Our partnerships + Our Technology = Safety in Numbers.

Strong partnerships

The City works in close partnership with:

  • WA Police
  • Public Transport Authority
  • Neighbourhood Watch
  • Cockburn Youth Centre
  • Local businesses
  • Other authorities
  • Residents.
Together, we're building a powerful network that shares information and works together to keep Cockburn safe.

CCTV and technology network

Our commitment to technology is reflected in our growing network of infrastructure. With over 800 CCTV cameras across the City and plans to reach 1,400 by 2027, our network is helping us monitor public spaces more effectively and efficiently, giving you added piece of mind.

Stay informed and report

Our commitment to safety goes beyond infrastructure. We provide practical safety education across the community, reaching schools, aged care facilities and more. Through partnerships with WA Police and Neighbourhood Watch, we share essential strategies to help residents stay safe and informed in their daily lives.

And remember, if you see something report it to CoSafe 1300 26 72 33 or WA Police on 131 444.

Other ways we’re protecting our community

CoSafe mobile security patrols

CoSafe provides free mobile safety and security patrols throughout Cockburn, with the team available 24/7, clocking in around 8,760 hours of patrol annually to respond to calls for assistance.

CoSafe Holiday Watch Service

The CoSafe Holiday Watch Service allows residents to register their homes for CoSafe patrols while they are away, providing added peace of mind, with over 7,700 drive-by 'Holiday Watch' checks conducted annually.

Security rebates

In the past year, 267 security rebates offered by the City were used by residents, reflecting our commitment to enhancing residents safety at home. Eligible residents can apply for these rebates to offset costs when installing security features, including CCTV, security screens, and alarms. Through the CCTV Home Rebate Program, residents can receive up to 50 per cent of the cost of their new or upgraded CCTV system, capped at $500.

Seniors are also eligible for the Seniors Security Rebate, which provides up to $500 toward security measures such as CCTV, roller shutters, and alarms, supporting them in feeling safer and more secure in their homes.

Supporting our youth

The City supports its young people aged 10-24, by offering a wide range of services, primarily through the Cockburn Youth Centre. From youth outreach and mentoring to the RYDE driving program, term and holiday activities, and the Bliss-Co Mobile Youth Bus with free sports and arts fun, there’s something for everyone. Plus, we provide funding for ideas, projects, and sport-related travel, along with great opportunities to get involved in leadership and volunteering.
