Sponsorship

The City of Cockburn provides sponsorship opportunities of up to $2,000 for individuals and $20,000 for groups for significant events, activities, services and endeavours.

For individuals

You can apply for individual sponsorship if you are an individual who:

  • is a resident of the City of Cockburn
  • have been selected to attend a significant event on a national or international level based on your own endeavours i.e. selected on merit not self-nominated
  • wishes to attend or complete a significant activity to help the community
  • are able to provide examples of communtiy support for their proposal

You can apply for up to $2,000. Applications will be considered favourable if you can contribute cash or in-kind support towards your activity or receive funding from other sources.

Applicants who are eligible for Junior Travel Assistance or Youth Art Scholarships, are not eligible for Individual sponsorship. 
Student exhange programs are not eligible or sponsorship.
 
These sponsorship opportunities are open all year-round, and will be notified within two months of the application being received. Please note that funding will not be awarded restrospectively, or for activities due to occur within two months of the application date.
 

How do I apply?

To apply, please contact the Grants and Research Officer on 08 9411 3444 or communitygrants@cockburn.wa.gov.au to discuss your proposal before submitting an application.

Applications can be made at the Cockburn Smarty Grants website.

For groups

You can apply for group sponsorship if you are a community group or organisation based in the City of Cockburn who primarily services residents of the City. Applications are invited from not-for-profit community-managed groups, welfare, education, arts/cultural, youth, seniors, children, ethnic and related groups.

If you are a sporting team or club, you can apply if you:

  • Are representing at a national or international level event for which you have been selected based on your endeavours in your chosen activity
  • Are hosting a sporting event or activity in the City of Cockburn that is of state, national or international significance that will add value to the City of Cockburn.

You can apply for up to $20,000. Priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate cash or in-kind support and who receive funding from other sources.

You can apply for sponsorship each year in one of the two funding rounds closing in March or September. Please note that funding will not be awarded restrospectively, or for activities due to occur within two months of the application date.

Funding rounds are advertised in local newspapers, on the City’s website, the Cockburn Soundings newsletter and social media. Closing dates are noted on the application forms.
