This Privacy Collection Notice is to inform you of the intended use of your personal information collected by the City of Cockburn (the City).
The City collects and uses your personal information to:
- provide services and facilities,
- carry out its functions as a local government, and
- fulfill statutory duties and exercise statutory powers (the Purposes).
The City collects and uses your personal information for its dealings with you across all of the Purposes.
What the City collects
Personal information includes your name, address, contact details, date of birth, payment information, images or recordings, and other information relevant to the service or purpose. If you choose to provide it, this may also include sensitive personal information, such as health information, political views or information about your racial or ethnic origin.
The City may also collect anonymised and aggregated analytics about the use of our systems and online services.
How the City uses and shares information
Your information is used for the Purposes, related purposes you would reasonably expect, and where required or authorised by law.
The City may disclose personal information to relevant State or Federal government agencies in Australia, in accordance with the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024. The City does not disclose personal information overseas.
Providing information
Other than as required by law, you are not required to provide personal information. However, if you do not, the City may be unable to provide some services.
Storage and rights
Your information is stored securely in the City’s approved business systems, retained and disposed of under the State Records Act 2000.
You have rights to access and request correction of your personal information, and to make privacy complaints.
