Thursday 28 August:
Turtles may be slow but nature lovers are being called on to help keep track of them.

Training sessions to show people how to help out local turtles will be presented by the City of Cockburn on 30 August and 3 September.

Austal Limited is pleased to announce the official signing of the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement between the Commonwealth of Australia and Austal Defence Shipbuilding Australia, a newly created, wholly owned subsidiary of Austal Limited.
This landmark agreement, signed on behalf of the Commonwealth by RADM Michael Houghton, Head Patrol Boats and Specialist Ships, Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group and Paddy Gregg, Austal Limited CEO, formally appoints Austal Defence Australia as the Commonwealth’s strategic shipbuilder for Tier 2 surface combatants at Henderson.

Wednesday 27 August:
The State Government is supporting the growth of the future defence workforce, investing $11.5 million through the AUKUS Defence Industry Incentive in apprentice training to skill workers to build and maintain ships at Henderson.

The investment supports the establishment of a Henderson Defence Precinct which underpins tens of billions of dollars of Commonwealth Government investment in defence capabilities in the State over the next 20 years, creating more than 10,000 new skilled jobs.
South Metropolitan TAFE is a leading defence industry trainer, delivering fabrication training to defence industry apprentices at its Naval Base campus.

Tuesday 26 August:
Henderson-based Matrix Composites and Engineering will be among experts in research, technology, engineering, port, marine and recycling services, event management, energy and resources, to join State Government representatives at the Society of Petroleum Engineers Offshore Europe 2025 conference in Aberdeen, Scotland this September.

The Fremantle Dockers are locked in for a Saturday home final after the AFL confirmed the schedule for the opening weekend of September.
 
Saturday 23 August:
The Cockburn Cougars women won the NBL1 West season grand final against Warwick Senators 91-97 at RAC Arena on 23 August.

The Cougars were undefeated all season, appearing in their third consecutive grand final and following up their 2023 season championship crown.
The team is due to compete in the NBL1 National Finals in Canberra from Friday 29 August.
