Wednesday 2 July:
Former City of Mandurah junior councillors took a trip down memory lane for the Mandurah Junior Council program’s 40th anniversary.

Guest speakers at the reunion included former junior mayor, Lilijana Nicholls. The Cockburn resident is a member of the City of Cockburn Youth Advisory Collective.
Lilijana’s commitment to youth issues was highlighted in an instalment of Quintessentially Cockburn in August 2024.

Perth’s railway network has been thrown into chaos after an incident cancelled trains on the Thornlie-Cockburn line.

Transperth said trains on the Thornlie-Cockburn line between Cannington and Cockburn Central had been cancelled about 7am on Wednesday morning following an incident.

Tuesday 1 July:
The City of Cockburn is proudly supporting NAIDOC Week with a series of free, inclusive events from 8 July until 5 August.

The state and federal governments are delivering more homes under the Commonwealth's $2 billion Social Housing Accelerator Payment fund with 38 new social housing dwellings now under construction in North Coogee.
The WA Department of Housing and Works has entered an off-the-plan contract with PARC Developments to acquire all dwellings in the $23.54 million project, providing new homes for people on the public housing waitlist and boosting WA's social housing stock.

Monday 30 June:
The whole community will benefit from a transformative $8.9m redevelopment of Malabar Park, home to Cockburn BMX Club and award-winning local charity Friends of the Community.

The Bibra Lake facility at Malabar Way off Port Kembla Drive is now open and  boasts BMX facilities that enable the club to host national-level events, while the general community can access a pump track, playground, barbecue facilities, public toilets and new car parking year-round.

Covered in seaweed and mussels, our ‘WA-first’ fringing reef in North Coogee has featured in The Australian Local Government Yearbook for 2025.
The City expanded the reef in November 2024 but research results were already showing the modular structure on the ocean floor is already having a positive effect on reducing wave energy at erosion-prone C.Y. O’Connor Beach.
