About the event

The Nyungar season of Makuru in June and July is when rainfall is most abundant, making it the perfect time to plant new seedlings.

Join us for this season's community planting events, FREE and full of fun. Best of all help to improve habitat and biodiversity within Cockburn conservation reserves.

There are three planting days in 2025 on 7 June, 21 June and 12 July - see the details and the registration link below.

Key Tasks

  • Listening to and understanding the safety procedures outlined during the on-site induction
  • Wearing appropriate PPE: preferably a long-sleeved shirt, must wear long pants and closed-in footwear, have a hat/rain jacket if needed
  • Manual handling of seedling plant trays throughout the designated revegetation areas
  • Planting seedlings which includes: forming planting basins with a hand trowel, installing fertiliser tablets, and erecting tree guards (when appropriate) with rubber mallet
  • Transporting mulch throughout the revegetation site with wheelbarrow and buckets and installing around planted seedlings (when appropriate)
  • Assisting with plant pot and tray and tool collection post-planting.
