Dunes at C.Y. O’Connor Beach to be restored

15AUGUST2018

The City has begun working to rebuild the dunes on the northern end of C.Y. O’Connor Beach.

Over 20,000m3 sand from the Chelydra Power Station will be shifted and placed on either side of the Catherin Point Groyne where the beach has been eroded.

For safety reasons, some areas of the beach will be closed to the public from Monday to Friday during Daylight hours. However, the beach will remain open on weekends.

The works will continue through to mid-September 2018.

The removal of a small area of vegetation is required to facilitate truck movements

Residents and visitors are asked to observe any closures, and keep pets and children well clear of working areas.

If you have questions, please call 9411 3444 or email the City.
