About the event

Join Cockburn Mayor Logan K. Howlett JP and the Japanese Consul-General Mr Atsushi Karimata, along with local schools and the City of Cockburn, as we mark Hiroshima Day with a special tree planting ceremony.

Next year will be 80 years since the bombing of Hiroshima, a moment in history that reminds us of the importance of peace. This year also marks 40 years since Cockburn first began honouring the day with this community event.

With support from the Japanese Consulate in Perth, students, teachers, and locals will come together to plant a tree, a symbol of hope, peace, and new beginnings.

Everyone’s welcome!
