My Community

The City hosts a number of sustainability and conservation programs for the community throughout the year. You can get involved with local conservation groups and programs and meet like-minded people in your community.

Sustainability is as much about community as it is about the environment. The City runs a number of programs and events throughout the year, to help you connect to your community for sustainability.

Sustainable Living Events Guide

The City publishes a biannual Sustainable Living Events Guide, which is packed full of community events.

Community planting days

The City hosts a number of free community planting days at conservation reserves throughout the year. Go to What's On for more information on dates and locations.

Friends-of Groups

The City supports a number of ‘Friends of’ groups, community volunteers who look after natural areas in the City. Visit the Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre for information on their group and how to get involved. For other community conservation groups in Cockburn, contact the Environmental Services team on 08 9411 3444 or at environmentalmanagement@cockburn.wa.gov.au. You don’t need any prior experience to join a friends of group, just a love of the natural environment!
