BMX and Skate Parks

The City of Cockburn has a number of free skate parks in Atwell, Coolbellup and Spearwood. The parks are not actively supervised and children under 10 need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. The City manages two small BMX tracks and the BMX Stadium is located in Cockburn.

Skate parks in Cockburn 

All City of Cockburn skate parks and BMX Jump tracks are unsupervised. Children under 10 should be supervised by a responsible adult and safety equipment must always be worn. People using the skate and BMX facilities do so at their own risk. Please view the map below for information on skate parks and BMX tracks in Cockburn.

Coolbellup Skate Park

Address: Len Packham Reserve, corner of Cordelia Avenue and Tybalt Place, Coolbellup
Features: Five foot mini ramp, fun-box with rail, spine, flat bank, 1/4 pipe with hip into mini ramp.
 

Spearwood Skate Park

Address: Rockingham Road (not far from Troode Street), Spearwood
Features: Enclosed bowl, large wide embankments and quarter pipes, hips and spine, playground attached.
 

Bibra Lake Skate Park

Address: Bibra Drive, opposite Bibra Lake Primary School
Features: Metal ramps with concrete transitions situated on a large concrete slab. Concrete, mini ramp, plaza style objects,
Special features: vert wall, taco shell and roller kickers. Scooter track playground and Streetball court attached.
 

Atwell Skate Park

Address: Atwell Park, Tapper Road, Atwell
Features: Concrete park, large flat banks, six foot mini ramp, spine, stairs with ledge and rail, fun-box with rail, 90 degree hip into mini ramps.


Cockburn Pump Tracks

Yangebup Pump Track

Address: Perena Rocchi Reserve, corner of Osprey and Moorhen Drive, Yangebup
Features: Rolling clay track, Streetball court and playground nearby

South Lake Pump Track

Address: South Lake Drive, South Lake near South Lake Ottey Centre
Features: Rolling clay track, Streetball court and playground nearby

Hamilton Hill Pump Track

Address: Dixon Reserve, Starling Street, west side of Wally Hagan Stadium
Features: Rolling clay track

Calleya Pump Track

Address: Sapphire Drive, Banjup
Features: Bitumen pump track with multiple rollers and corners. The track is approximately 190m long.  There is also an adjacent playground and seated area.

South Beach Pump Track

Address: Barrow Park South Beach Promenade South Beach
Features: Small clay pump track of approximately 100m.  A nature scape playground is adjoined to the park.

Skate Park events

Cockburn Youth Services run competitions and coaching clinics at the skate parks throughout the year. Specific dates and times are available on the events and workshops page.

Pump Track events

Ladies Only Clinics

Our ladies only clinics are held at Bibra Lake skate park during the school holiday periods on a Thursday night between 6 & 9pm. They are open to females only and include boards and protective equipment. Coached by professionals whether you are a beginner or more advanced it’s a friendly environment to improve your skills and have some fun.

Jams

Jams are a gathering of one or all the disciplines of Bike, Scooter or Skateboard which are accompanied by music and small quick competitions like trick of the night, highest air or longest grind.

Competitions

This is the formal event. Competitions are structured where a solo rider will take on the park for a series of “runs” and be judged on a selection criteria The accumulation of the highest points will decide a winner for the day. There are different categories for riders to compete in.

All the Skatepark and Pumptrack events are Free.

Skate2Clean competition winner

The City is part of the Skate2Clean program, which supports and rewards skaters who look after their skate parks.

Congratulations to Coolbellup skate park, the winner of the City’s first Skate2Clean competition, which rewarded skaters who kept their park the cleanest in the summer of 2016/ 2017. Thanks to your efforts in keeping your park clean for everyone to use, Coolbellup skate park was able to host the Skate2Clean finale event in April. The event was hosted by the City and had live DJ, bands, free competitions, giveaways and prizes.

Cockburn BMX Club 

The Main BMX track is situated at Malabar park and is used for competitions and track meets on a Tuesday night. If you would like to ride competition BMX, call the Cockburn BMX Stadium on 0428 334 470.
