Sporting Events in Cockburn

The City of Cockburn is home to many local sporting events hosted by state sporting bodies, professional event organisers, and local sporting clubs. These events, including the Bibra Lake Fun Run, attract visitors to our community from across Perth and the State.

Bibra Lake Fun Run

Held annually in September, the Bibra Lake Fun Run is a free community event for residents of all ages and fitness levels staged by the City of Cockburn. The 6km distance traverses around the lake for both competitive runners and family groups, with prizes for overall and age group placegetters.

Open Water Swim Series

The Swimming WA Open Water Swimming (OWS) Series is the largest series of the OWS events in Australia. The OWS Series has become an icon of the Western Australian sporting calendar, attracting amateur and professional swimmers from age nine to ninety-nine. The series includes ten events conducted across Perth and regional WA from October to March; including Coogee Beach.

Coogee Jetty to Jetty Swim

The annual Coogee Jetty to Jetty Swim is organised by Cockburn Masters Swimming Club through an Event Organising Committee which diligently plans and delivers the event on behalf of the club. The event takes place on the first Sunday of March each year at Coogee Beach.

Parkrun

Open to both runners and walkers, parkruns are free, weekly, community events that take place all around the world. Held at 8am every Saturday morning and run by volunteers, the events are a 5km distance in parks and open spaces. They are open to participants of all ages, including those with prams and walking one dog per person, but for safety reasons, children on bikes or scooters are discouraged. Local parkrun events are currently scheduled at Bibra Lake and Calleya.
