Cat Microchipping and Sterilisation

All cats in Western Australia aged over six months are required to:
  • Be registered
  • Be microchipped
  • Wear the required registration tags
  • Be de sexed, (approved cat breeder exempt).
All persons or organisations wishing to breed cats must apply for a permit and to register each cat with the City. As a cat owner, you may receive a penalty or face prosecution for failure to comply.

Cat sterilisation subsidy

The City of Cockburn provides a Cat Sterilisation Subsidy for residents to assist with the expenses of sterilising and microchipping a cat. Visit the funding, subsidies and rebates pages for more information.
