On August 10, 2023, the Minister for Planning made a decision that the area will become an urban area in the future.
Each day, millions of disposable nappies end up in landfill in Australia. It takes 1 cup of crude oil to make 1 disposable nappy and takes at least 150 years for a nappy to break down. Similarly, millions of disposable sanitary products, made of polyethylene and other plastics, are sold within Australia each year. With the average woman using over 10,000 disposable menstrual products in their lifetime, that’s a lot of waste going to landfill.
For residents looking to reduce their disposable nappy and sanitary product waste, the City is offering a rebate of up to $50 on sanitary product purchases and up to $100 on cloth nappy purchases.
Reusable options are kinder on the planet and more cost effective in the long run, while offering benefits such as reduced waste to landfill and less greenhouse gas emissions.
Residents can apply for a 50% rebate of up to $100 for the purchase or hire of modern cloth nappies (including cloth baby wipes, nursing breast pads and wet bags).
Rebate of up to $50 on new reusable sanitary item purchases (including menstrual cups, reusable sanitary pads, reusable incontinence pads and period underwear).
One rebate for cloth nappies and one rebate for reusable sanitary products is available per household.
All rebate applicants must provide a proof of address and receipt of purchase showing the details of the purchase.
Residents applying for the cloth nappy rebate or subsidy must have attended a Nappy Guru Modern Cloth Nappy workshop < 6 months prior to the application.
Rebates will be transferred electronically into the nominated bank account.
