Katitjin (Stories)

Explore Dreaming stories, ancestral journeys and cultural teachings passed down through generations.
Katitjin is more than storytelling. It is the process of understanding.

In Nyungar culture, stories help us make sense of the world: why things are the way they are, and how we are meant to live.

These are Nyitting Yarns – foundational stories from the Dreaming. They carry knowledge of the land, animals, sky, and spirit world. Some are lessons, some are memories, and some are mysteries still unfolding.

The Nyungar word yarn goes deeper than its English counterpart – it is a conversation, a reflection, and a way of asking why and how.

This section shares Katitjin, including stories that explain the origins of Country, the roles of animals and spirits, and the values carried through generations.
