Term Program

Cockburn Youth Centre offers a range of engaging after-school term programs for young people aged 10–17 years.

If playing role-playing games, working on drama productions, music, basketball or connecting with peers is your thing, we have you covered. We even have programs that help you create a resume and identify relevant jobs with our Employ Me program. Need your Learners driving permit? We have it covered with Keys for Life.

Monday Chef
Monday Nights are for cooking! Join our experienced Chef in the CYC kitchen to help cook, serve and clean up for the crowd. This experience is valuable to young people looking to try their hand in hospo. This ten week program has limited availability so please apply with an email to  [email protected]

Junior darts training starts back up. Beginners are always welcome!

Monday Pitch Perfect 
If you want friends to sing along, come on down and join Sharon. If you’re 10-16 this is your crowd, but 16+ too can sing out loud. With an awesome crew, this group’s for you. So start your week with a blast, one hour sessions are filling up fast!

Tuesday Dungeons and Dragons
Play in one of our two adventures Into the Everwild - is a homebrew adventure in which you and your party try to save the magical first world from an encroaching threat.

Wednesday Hoops at the Youth Centre
Want to learn the basics, take your game to the next level or just have some fun? Join our weekly basketballs clinics for all skill levels.

Wednesday RPG - Pathfinder
Our Pathfinder game Curse of the Crimson Throne has our heroes trying to save the city of Korvsa from an evil queen. Or head Through the Breach to the weird west, where the town of Innocence has recovered after an attack from demonic Nephlim...or so it seems.

Thursday Print Club
Calling all creatives! Print Club is a collaborative creative project where we will explore zines, paste-ups, stencils, collage and more!

Boxing
Are you up for a bit of fun fitness that packs a punch? Join us for some boxing drills and skills every Thursday 5-6pm. These sessions are led by none other than Hayden Wright – the H-Bomb himself – from Yangebup Boxing Club. For 10-17 year olds. All levels of experience welcome!

A social support group for young people with diverse sexualities and genders aged 15-24.

Friday  Paperback Palace
Literary nerds unite! Join Mason on a ten-week journey of book club magic, as we read a different book each term in a structured and weekly pace. Fortnightly food, weekly activities, interesting discussions, and you can even keep the book! The club is limited to 10 members so ‘bookmark’ this program and get in quick! (ages 14+)

Friday Advanced Drama Academy
Continue the drama and unleash your power on the stage.

Saturday Hospo Legends
Barista and hospitality training with Mason! From making coffee, to three-plating and the 'flow of service'; learn all the tips and tricks of the hospitality industry in a friendly and laid-back environment. Chillhop, chats and caffeine!

Saturday Tabletop Guild
​Get your dice and decks ready for a day of fun and games with tabletop Guild. Lovers of tabletop games welcome! Games include Malifaux, betrayal at the house on the hill, Maximum Apocalypse, Munchkin and more!

Important Information

Ages
The Youth Centre is for young people aged 10–24 years (the month they turn 10) to drop in and get involved. Programs held during school term and holidays are for 10–17 year olds.
Memberships
Membership is free and is required for anyone using the Centre and its programs.
Program Bookings
Bookings and payments can be made by phone or in person at the Centre. Spaces for programs are limited, so please book in advance.
Personal Belongings and Food
Some of our programs include lunch, although it’s best to come prepared. We have a fridge and secure lockers for storing personal belongings. Each person is responsible for their own belongings.
Hang Out
Our hangout spaces are open for all to use and include X–box, PlayStation, a pool table, ping pong, slackline and Foozball. Young people are welcome to drop in from 3pm on weekdays.
