Sponsorship overview

Individual Sponsorship is a mutually beneficial arrangement where the City of Cockburn provides financial support for participation in significant events, activities, services, or endeavours, in exchange for public recognition. This partnership not only enhances community value but also serves as an investment in recognition opportunities that promote the long-term interests of both the City of Cockburn and its beneficiaries.

Eligibility criteria

You are eligible for Individual Sponsorship if you are:

  • A resident of the City of Cockburn
  • Able to provide examples of community support for your proposal
  • Attending a significant event or activity at a National or International level for which you have been selected on the basis of your individual endeavours in your chosen activity. (Individuals must supply supporting documentation from the relevant governing association of the activity).
  • Attending or completing a significant activity that benefits the community. 
Applications are invited from all ages for a range of projects, events or activities including sporting, welfare, education and arts/cultural, unless eligible to apply for funding through the City’s Junior Sports Travel Assistance Program or Youth Art Scholarship Program.

Sponsorship amount and details

The maximum sponsorship available to an individual is $1,000, however sponsorship will generally be approved for a lesser amount.

The sponsored event or activity must:

  • Benefit the local community and/or the City of Cockburn at large
  • Provide brand exposure and public recognition for the City of Cockburn
  • Enhance awareness and elevate the City of Cockburn's profile, aligning with its desired image.

Applications highlighting a financial or in-kind contribution to their project or event will receive favourable consideration, as will those securing additional funding sources.

When and how to apply

Applications are open all year-round.

To apply:

  1. Review eligibility: Review the eligibility criteria, limitations and conditions.
  2. Consultation: Before applying, discuss your proposal with the Community Grants Team to ensure alignment with sponsorship criteria.
  3. Submission: Submit your application using the link below.

Please note:
  • Applications will be assessed and applicants notified of the outcome. within two months.
  • Projects or events should not start within two months of the application closing date.

Limitations and conditions

Before applying please ensure you are aware of the following:

  • Funding is granted as a single instance of support, without a promise of future funding.
  • Funding will not be provided for projects or events that:
    • Have already taken place or will occur within two months after the application is submitted
    • May divide communities by denigrating, excluding, or offending community group
    • May present a hazard to the community or environment 
    • Relates to political campaigns or lobbying.
  • Applicants who have previously received funding must have fully accounted for that funding before submitting a new application.
  • Applicants can receive funding for up to two different projects per financial year from separate funding programs, as long as they are not for the same project.
  • Funding does not cover personal items, such as uniforms, food consumables, or catering costs, or student exchange opportunities.
