About the Cockburn Seniors Centre

The Cockburn Seniors Centre provides recreational, educational, health and social activities, classes, events, meals, outings and courses for people aged 50 and over. These include:

  • Meals - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at midday (pre-order before 10am)
  • Café - Tuesday and Thursday 9am – 12.45pm
  • Services - a centre-based hairdresser and naturopath available by appointment
  • Transport - a van pick-up service is available for members who are transport disadvantaged – booking required
  • Computer Room - computers/iPads and free WiFi available for members to use.

Become a member 

Membership to Cockburn Seniors Centre is $48.50 for one year - 1 July 2020 - 30 June 2021.

Members enjoy access to:

  • Centre activities that are free or up to a maximum of $7.50 per class
  • Outings (prices vary)
  • Meals $10.50 for two courses, plus tea/coffee and/or main course only $7.50.

Outings

Outings Booking Conditions

  • Outings are available for current members only
  • Payment must be made at time of booking for all outings
  • Book for a maximum of 2 people
  • Book up to two outings per member, in the first 2 weeks of release
  • Remaining spaces will be open for all members on Wednesday 16 September
  • Cancellations cannot be refunded if fees are charged to us by providers
  • Please advise of any special dietary requirements at time of booking
March 2021 Outings
Heirisson Island Tuesday 2 March 9.30am – 2.30pm
Experience the wonders of Heirisson Island, which holds great significance to the Noongar people. Enjoy morning tea on this magnificent island, go for a leisurely stroll to see the kangaroos in their natural envioroment, or just sit back and relax. After enjoying the island we will drive to Fremantle for lunch at Cicerello’s.
Moderate walking involved – not suitable for wheelchair or walkers

Brunch BBQ Thursday 4 March 8.30am – 12.30pm
Come with us on a drive along the coast up to Floreat Beach. Relax by the beach while we cook up a late breakfast on the BBQ. After breakfast you have time to take a stroll on the beach or just sit back and enjoy the view.
Low to moderate walking involved
Meal Choice BBQ breakfast included (Bacon, Hash Brown, Scrambled Egg, Tomato, Mushroom, Sausages, Muffins and Fruit Salad). Plus tea and coffee

Pavilion Restaurant Wednesday 10 March 10.30am – 3.30pm
Enjoy a three course meal at The Pavilion Restaurant, a fine dining, à la carte restaurant operated by students at North Metropolitan TAFE's Hospitality and Culinary Arts centre. This real life training environment is where the next star chefs, wait staff and front of house staff cut their teeth.

Walking Tour
Thursday 11 March 9.15am – 2.15pm
Go Cultural Aboriginal Tours and Experiences will be taking us on a journey into Perth's ancient Aboriginal past with traditional songs, dreamtime stories and Noongar culture. The tour will take approximately 90 minutes. After the tour you will have free time to purchase your lunch.
Bring along a bottle of water, sunscreen, hat, camera and umbrella if required.
High level of walking involved

Op shopping Wednesday 24 March 9am – 2.45pm
After making a stop at the Balcatta Recycling Shop we will spend the morning at the Stirling Op Shops (Good Sammy, Vinnies and Paraquad) where you can browse for a bargain or two.

Perth Observatory Wednesday 31 March 8.30am – 2pm
The Perth Observatory is Western Australia’s oldest observatory which is located 35km east of Perth in Bickley. Start with a morning tea followed by a 1.5 hour guided tour. Meander through the heritage museum to finish off with a picnic lunch before heading home.
Moderate walking involved.  Stair access to both domes.
