Parenting Services and Support

Cockburn Parenting Service is a free service for families with children aged 0-18 years in the City of Cockburn. The service provides practical advice on children’s development, parent education and information, emotional support and strategies to assist those in a parenting role. The service also provides parenting information and strategies delivered through a variety of forums including parenting groups, events and individual programs as needed.  
To apply for any of the above, please complete the Cockburn Parenting Service intake/referral form

We offer support and information on:

  • Emotional support and information for parents from early parenthood to adolescence
  • Helping to manage the challenges of parenting 
  • Supporting your child's development 
  • Helping you understand your child’s emotional needs and behaviour
  • Providing ideas on how to strengthen your relationship with your child
  • Identify local community support networks 
  • Setting limits while maintaining a close and connected relationship 
  • Language, motor skills, and social/emotional development
  • Individual programs where required for parents and their children
  • Connecting parents to other services and programs within the community.

  • Parenting by Connection (Building Emotional Understanding and Understanding Tears and Tantrums)
  • Hand in Hand Parenting
  • Circle of Security-Parenting
  • Tuning in to Kids
  • Tuning in to Teens
  • Engaging adolescents
  • Sing and Play (supported playgroup)
  • My Time (Aboriginal parent/grandparent group
  • Parent Circle (parent support group).

Cockburn Parenting Service: A partner of the South West Metropolitan Parenting Service

The South West Metropolitan Parenting Service (SWMPS) is a partnership between City of Cockburn, Kwinana Early Years (KEYS) and Meerilinga Parenting Service. The partnership provides parenting services to parents and carers living in Cockburn, Kwinana, Melville, Rockingham, Fremantle and and East Fremantle.
