Cockburn Support Service: Mental Health

Are you or a family member in need of help with mental health issues? We provide free counselling, information, and support for City of Cockburn residents in a confidential and caring environment. 

Accessing help from the Cockburn Support Service

The Cockburn Support Service is available for people dealing with:

  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Relationship problems
  • Self-esteem
  • Anger management
  • Grief.
We offer short-term counselling to individuals, as well as information and referrals to help you connect with services and resources in the community. 

Our qualified staff are here to work alongside you to assist you through various systems that impact your life, such as education, health care, disability services, and housing.

Community groups and workshops

Find connection and understanding by joining a community group or attending a workshop run by the City. 

The following is a sample of the types of groups and workshops on offer. For more detailed listing of all group gatherings and workshops, visit the City's Events and Workshops Calendar. 

My Time Aboriginal Support Group

My Time is an Aboriginal parent and carer support group. The group yarns about experiences and learning about family connection over food and friendships. 

Beeliar Hub Parents Group

Beeliar Hub is a meeting place for parents and young children. Come and enjoy a cuppa, meet other parents and provide your child with an environment to socialise and play. 

Wise Women Workshops

Wise Women Workshops are free monthly sessions for women over the age of 45. It involves presentations and discussions on a variety of topics such as well-being, mindfulness, heart health and assertive communication. 

Mental Health Support App

The Mental Health Support App is designed for people living in Cockburn, Fremantle, and Melville. It provides information on services for individuals, families, and people supporting others. 

Most services are free and do not require referrals or mental health care plans. 

To access this support, text 'Wellbeing4Me' to 0400 884 151. You will be sent a link to download the 'Access My Community' app and access the resource 'Mental Health Support: Cockburn, Fremantle, and Melville.'

My Services is an online directory helping to make it easier for consumers, carers, and families to find mental health and alcohol, and other drug support services. 

Drug and alcohol support

Next Step provides a range of treatment services for people experiencing problems associated with their alcohol and other drug use, as well as support for families. 

Here For You is a confidential telephone service for anyone concerned about their own or another person's alcohol and other drug use and/or mental health issues. 

Family and domestic violence crisis helplines

If you or someone you know is experiencing family and domestic violence in an emergency or is in immediate danger, call 000. 

For non-emergency situations, visit the wa.gov.au website for a list of crisis support helplines for those experiencing family and domestic violence.
