Wednesday 1 October:
The State Government will establish a new Primary Industries Research Centre at Jandakot to help future proof Western Australia's valuable agriculture and food sector.

More than $55 million will be invested to develop the 2.75-hectare site in the Jandakot industrial precinct to house the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development's (DPIRD) research and development functions.

Motorists and residents in Wattleup have been urged to avoid a street after asbestos spilt on to the road.
Emergency WA warned there had been an asbestos spill on Dalison Avenue between Phillips Road and Pearse Road in Wattleup around 4.30pm.

Teenage pop sensation and Banjup resident Gisella Colletti is set to release her highly anticipated debut single Good Enough on October 17.

Learn about the Cockburn community’s long history of action, resilience and spirit at a free exhibition. ‘Passion and Protest: Cockburn Community Speaks Up’ highlights 11 examples of when Cockburn people stood up for what was important.

City of Cockburn Local History Officer Denise Cook was interviewed by Jenny Seaton on the Curtin Radio Afternoon Show about the exhibition which is at Memorial Hall, Hami Hill until 5 October.

The 2025-26 nesting season for the Southwestern Snake-Necked Turtle (Chelodina oblonga) has begun.
Recent information and training sessions held by the City of Cockburn have increased the number of volunteer Turtle Trackers to more than 100 to help keep females safe as they leave wetlands and lakes in search of soft soil to lay their eggs.

City of Cockburn Environmental Education Officer Rafeena Boyle was interviewed by Jenny Seaton on the Curtin Radio Afternoon Show.

Harmony Primary School Parents' & Citizens' Association Inc, Bibra Lake Residents Association, Native ARC (WA Wildlife), and Western Australian Ice Racing based at Cockburn Ice Arena will share in $70,000 in state government grants to help the community celebrate International Volunteer Day 2025.
