Reimagined Coogee Live 2026 wins Australian award

23OCTOBER2026
Our reimagined Coogee Live festival held this March is the winner of the WA award for Best Community Event, announced at the 2026 Australian Event Awards in Coffs Harbour on 21 October.

The all-free, family-friendly beachside festival was completely reimagined for 2026 with new spaces, new immersive experiences and a whole new vibe, attracting more than 26,500 visitors across two days.

The City’s Events, Arts and Culture team said the success of Coogee Live was a reflection of the contributions of multiple hard-working teams across the organisation, across all stages of planning and facilitating the event.

“We are incredibly proud to have delivered another award-winning community event, especially because it’s a fantastic achievement for the City as a whole,” City of Cockburn Events Coordinator Emma Howe said.

“While many departments contribute through their usual business functions, it’s important to recognise the teams who provided significant additional resourcing and hands-on support to deliver the event.”

These included:
  • Facilities
  • Civil Infrastructure
  • Recreation Services
  • Parks Services
  • Environment
  • Sustainability and Climate Change
  • Waste Services
  • Community Development (Volunteer Centre, CoSafe and Youth Services)
Mayor Logan Howlett said he and his wife Pat attended the City’s many events each year and were always so impressed by Coogee Live and its ability to capture the community's imagination.

"Coogee Live is much loved by our community. The City’s teams should be very proud of the hard work that starts many months before the event. "It’s not the first time this event has won an award, and again this recognition proves the exceptionally high stand of events we provide to our community each year here in Cockburn. Congratulations to everyone involved.”

Thanks to our awesome suppliers, performers, vendors and collaborators who help bring the magic of Coogee Live to life, and to our major sponsors, Lotterywest, Fremantle Ports and BP, for their support.

We’re gearing up for another magical Coogee Live in 2027. Stay tuned for details!
