Jandakot Surf Park

The City’s response to Channel 7 News questions asking the City about what is being done to protect the environment, what has the feedback been from residents and what are the benefits of the park.

Response

While the City was not the decision maker on this development we did provide comment which included recommending several conditions relating to environmental considerations. During the assessment stage of the application the development was advertised on the City’s consultation website. 213 of the 215 submissions indicated support for the development, with the two objections being opposed to potential traffic. The City has since become aware of environmental concerns from a section of the community. In terms of benefits there is no doubt the Park will be great for the economy, providing jobs at the construction phase and ongoing employment.
