3.7.23 -
Question: Has there been any developments with this dog attack yesterday in Spearwood?
Answer
: The City is continuing with its investigation. We expect to complete this process in the coming days.
The results of this investigation will determine if the City will prosecute the owner of the dog responsible for the attack.
The City itself cannot order the destruction of a dog. A destruction order must come from a Court. The City is limited to what penalties can be imposed on owners, and must comply with State legislation – the Dog Act 1976.
The City is deeply saddened for the owners who were injured and lost their dog in this attack.
