#ShopLocalCockburn to win great prizes and support our businesses

2OCTOBER2020
Show your passion for our home grown Cockburn businesses, trades and services by joining the inaugural #ShopLocalCockburn campaign.

From 1 October, those who support Cockburn businesses will not only keep them afloat as the community continues to overcome the challenges of COVID-19, but will be in with a chance to win weekly prizes or one of two amazing $1,000 prize packs.

City of Cockburn Business Engagement Officer Sarah Kahle said the campaign was a continuation of City efforts to support the Cockburn business community during the 2020 pandemic response.

“When you shop locally you are supporting local workers, local families and the health of our local economy. This is vital at the moment, due to the impact of COVID-19 on our economy,” Ms Kahle said.

“It’s been a tough year for many of our local businesses, and many of these business owners and operators live in our suburbs and neighbourhoods, so it’s time to #ShopLocalCockburn and help them continue on the road to recovery.”

Beeliar business owner and resident Alyce Mostert of Cloth and Carry said her suburb was a busy local hub where everyone gathered, and knew each other by name, and she, her friends and family shopped locally to support fellow businesses.

Ms Mostert said she liked to support other locals because she knew what it meant for her own family and business.

“When people buy from me I can send my kids to local singing, dancing and swimming lessons, which supports the local community and our economy in Cockburn,” she said.

SpeedFit Cockburn Central owner and local resident Sandrine Leven echoed these sentiments.

“To me, shopping local makes for a more independent economy, create a little thriving economy in Cockburn,” Mr Leven said.

“It helps us fulfil our own dreams, and it’s more sustainable. It’s easier because you don’t have to travel far.”

Until 15 November, the City will reward those who #ShopLocalCockburn and spend their money at local businesses, trades and services.

To go into a draw to win a prize pack or weekly prizes, spend a minimum of $10 at three Cockburn-based shops, trades, services or hospitality venues (excluding Woolworths, Coles, Aldi and IGA, large retail chains and petrol stations) between 1 October and 15 November and email us your receipts.

Enter by emailing your details and all three receipts to [email protected] before 4pm on 15 November to go into the draw.
