About the event

Join us at the Ottey Centre to take part in The Great Global Mend – an unofficial world-record attempt for the most people mending and repairing at the same time!

All are welcome, whether you're a sewing expert, sock darner, knitter or simply have something in need of TLC. Just bring along your worn clothes and gear, and your sewing kit and machine (if you own one) and your love of repair.

There will be spare sewing machines available for you to use and light refreshments.

We’re also partnering with FabPatch, there will be free rub-on patches to help you easily fix garments and shoes.

World record attempt

At exactly 11am, participants will simultaneously start mending in an exciting countdown to attempt the world record. This world record attempt is uniting 16 Perth-metro councils in a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and community.

If you are coming to participate in the world record attempt please arrive at least 15 minutes prior, so we can include you in the counting that begins exactly on 11am.
