About the event

Christmas on the Green is a free event for the whole family. This year you can get crafty in the Sustainable Makers Workshop where you can make gifts for your friends and family.

Workshops are free but you will need to book in to your preferred session time. Click the register button at the bottom of this page. Children must attend these workshops with an adult.

The Sustainable Makers Workshop

Make your own sustainable gifts this festive season at the City’s Christmas on the Green. At the Makers Market, you will make gifts that keeps on giving, handmade presents that are natural, eco-friendly and cost-effective alternatives to store-bought gifts. Please join our Markers Market workshops, running for half an hour each, between 4.30 – 6.30 pm.
The Makers Workshop will be run by the Synergy Solar Trailer. It will absorb the suns heat to run the electricity within this tent - how cool!

Macramé Plant Holder

Workshop times:  4.30-5pm (sold out), 5.10-5.30pm, 5.40-6pm (sold out), 6.10-6.40pm (sold out)
Make a striking macramé hanging plant holder with local artist Sam Pace from the Threaded Wall. Using sustainable yarn you will be guided through the skill of knot tying to complete your own piece of art on a wooden hanger, ready to gift to a friend or relative. If you prefer the rustic look, you can bring along a stick/branch to use as a hanger.

Succulent Terrariums

Workshop times: 4.30-5pm,  5.10-5.30pm (sold out), 5.40-6pm, 6.10-6.40pm
Join us to plant up some succulents into recycled glass jars to create a simple and unique planter. Your upcycled jar terrarium will make a lovely, fun sustainable gift for friends and family. We provide different sized and shaped jars with a variety of succulents, pebbles and ribbon to decorate.

Coffee/Sugar/Salt Scrubs

Workshop times: 4.30-5pm, 5.10-5.30pm, 5.40-6pm, 6.10-6.40pm 
Join us to make natural body scrub from recycled coffee grounds and other natural ingredients to create a delicious and healthy scrub. Give a gift that looks after your loved ones skin the natural way and make beautiful eco-friendly gifts!

Native Flower Christmas Wreaths

Workshop times: 4.30pm and 5.30pm (space available)
Start off your festive season with creating your very own gorgeous handmade Christmas Wreath that features local, native flowers and foliage that are sustainably sourced and WA grown from local flower farmers. Join the Green Florist Renee who will guide your hand to a masterpiece festive Native Flower Wreath. All flowers, the wreaths are plant-based and there will be no plastics or synthetics used. Your finished wreath will be totally biodegradable and compostable.

Gumnut Christmas decorations with the Wetlands Centre

This activity is free and runs all day, no bookings required.
Using naturally fallen gumnuts, leaves and sticks, join in to create your own unique Christmas ornaments. The Wetlands Centre Cockburn has run these workshops for many years and the adorable gumnut decorations will bring the true Aussie Christmas spirit into your home.

These activities take place from 4.30 - 8pm.

This is a carbon-neutral and waste wise event.
