Goodchild Park in Hamilton Hill is currently home to the Phoenix Lacrosse Club in winter and is used as an overflow ground by Cockburn Cricket Club in summer. 

The $1.3m upgrade and extension of the clubrooms at Goodchild Park gives the local sporting community the space and facilities needed to continue operating and attract new members, users and visiting clubs. It will also help increase participation in sport, recreation and physical activity by all genders, abilities and ages.  

The upgrades included:

  • 2 x new unisex change rooms
  • New umpire’s room
  • New first aid room
  • New external park UAT (Universal Accessible Toilet)
  • Improved storage facilities (internal and external)
  • Upgraded internal toilets (male, female and UAT
  • Upgraded kitchen/kiosk facilities
  • Upgraded clubroom space.
The upgrades to the clubrooms were completed in August 2022.

Funding

The project was funded by the State Government and the City of Cockburn. The State government funded $570,000 - $220,00 through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries ‘Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund’ grant, and an additional $350,000, also from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries via a State election commitment from Fremantle MLA Simone McGurk. The City of Cockburn funded $485,516. 

The State Government, through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, is a major supporter of community sport and recreation facilities in Western Australia.
